Trichotillomania… What is it?
For those who haven’t heard of it, which isn’t uncommon, this post is to explain what trichotillomania, better known as trich or TTM, is. Trich is defined in a dictionary as “A disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out body hair.”
For each person that suffers from trich, there is a different meaning. For some, it is pulling out the hair on their head. Others, it’s their eyelashes or eyebrows. Really, it is any hair on ones body that is able to be pulled at.For me personally, it is my eyelashes and eyebrows. All the insight I give is on those two particular places, but can be applied to anywhere!
This disorder will most likely be experienced by 0.5% to 3% of the population. It isn’t always lifelong. For many, they have found ways to cope and “cure” it. Not everyone does and will, but know that it IS possible.
